The Endless Pursuit of Writing Dreams
Join me on my Author Journey
My writing journey began many years ago during my time in grade school. I remember deciding to create the next great Abbott and Costello episode for a school assignment, unaware that they were no longer the comedic duo I admired on TV. Back then, I also believed that Elvis was still youthful and charming, and I even dreamed of marrying him in the future. Since then, I have always aimed to evoke emotions through my writing, whether it was a letter to a friend or foe (depending on our current relationship) or an essay in college reflecting on personal experiences or those of others.
There were periods when I wrote passionately, while there were also times when I didn't write anything for years. This pattern is evident in my first novel. I began writing it in late 2009 and completed it in January 2011. Subsequently, I started working on the second book in the series, which remains unfinished to this day. I then kept my finished manuscript for several years before finally gathering the courage to send it for editing in late 2023.
What do you mean it's not perfect?
Truth be told, being edited was quite tough on my ego. I dislike confessing to having various emotions (only my husband knows that side of me), despite aiming to evoke emotions in my characters, I attempt to conceal them within myself. However, receiving criticism, even when seeking it, triggers emotions that are not always pleasant.
Having said that, I am extremely happy that I overcame the fear of criticism and persisted in my path to becoming an author.
Wishing for Your Continued Presence
As I return to my manuscript for Book 2 in the Cor Unum series, the dream and the journey will persist. I have been considering different titles for Book 2 and will reveal those ideas in my upcoming blog post.
Your presence is appreciated, and I encourage readers to share their thoughts by commenting on the blog or leaving a review of the first book. While I acknowledge that not everyone will connect with my characters, book, or writing style, I welcome constructive feedback or a simple "Not my cup of tea" comment (hint: I may be quite sensitive).
